Level 2 Modules

1. Signs and Houses: In the Level 1 Course, you have learned the nature of the driving presences of the planets in the astrological birth chart and how these were traditionally seen as Gods, as Faces of the Divine. You have also learned what the implications are of a planet making aspects to other planets and falling in a particular sign or a particular House in the three focus charts. So, what happens if the demands of House and sign are apparently paradoxical or conflicting in terms of elemental quality, modality, extroversion/introversion, or strength of position? We examine the sorts of conflicts that can occur in the qualities and demands of the inherited sign energies and the environmentally-imposed House energies, conflicts that can occur between a planet's sign strength and house strength. This is done by rituals and visualizations which you may perform solo or with friends or with fellow course members.

Modules 2 - 20 cover Chart Shapes: This is a great specialty of mine. The aspects between the planets form chart shapes which are key to quick, deep and accurate decipherment of the natal chart. The importance of chart shapes cannot be stressed enough. So many astrologers have not adequately learned these. The chart shapes are taught in the following modules. Where possible, this teaching uses the three focus charts, but other charts will be brought in by me if the three charts do not contain all the chart shapes you need to learn. These modules are completed using rituals and visualizations which you may perform solo or with friends or fellow course members. I do teach a lot of other chart shapes, but these are included on this page just to give you an idea of scope the subject. When you follow the course, you learn the exact implications of each chart shape in the individual life, taking into account houses and elements involved and shape direction, and can study the full range of chart shapes if you wish. The purpose of showing all the chart samples of ‘at a glance’ rapid interpretation chart shapes, is to demonstrate the unusual range of concrete expertise that my course offers.

2. T – Square

This is a boy who was going through a phase of grave manipulative temper outbursts. Notice that he has Jupiter conjunct Pluto on his Ascendant, T-squared by his Moon opposition Mars (red triangle). He was helped by visualizing these forces as Gods and by writing stories about them and creating a board game.

3 Grand Cross

This is the chart of the Priestess who leads the Coven meeting at the Iron Age Fort, whom we met in Level 1, as an example of the trine aspect (red square). She is a powerful figure with a vast magical repertoire, a wide knowledge of herbs and a commanding sense of ethical relationships and a great sense of healing compassion. Those who come to her are fortunate.

4 Mystic Rectangle - Righteousness Rectangle

This chart contains the figure known as a Righteousness Rectangle. It is a figure that can evolve into a Mystic Rectangle, if the individual concerned ceases to deny and project their own problems (epitomized by the oppositions) and learns spiritual serenity and maturity. The rectangle consists of two sextiles (short blue lines) and two trines (longer blue lines), enclosing two oppositions (red lines). In this figure, Mars is sextile Venus; Venus trines Uranus; Uranus sextiles Jupiter and Jupiter trines Mars. The oppositions are: Jupiter opposition Venus and Mars opposition Uranus.

5 Ambivalence Figures

There are a number of these figures. This is the chart of a Healer. The triangle consists of an opposition (opposition: Jupiter opposition the North Node – the red line), a sextile (Jupiter sextile Sun-Venus – the shorter blue line) and a trine (Sun-Venus trine Node: the longer blue line). This figure is about the understanding and management of two conflicting ways of life: the opposition impels you to stressful task-completion; the blue figures lure you to an escapist way of life.

6 The Kite

The spine of the Kite is the opposition, here: Saturn opposition Mars. The four corners of the kite, here, are (1) Mars (2) Venus-Jupiter-Node (3) Saturn (4) Moon. It makes a lot of difference what elements the Grand Trine part of the kite are in; this is a Grand Trine in Fire. It also makes a lot of difference what direction the spine has in the chart. This awesome young lady leads utterly forthright powerful ritual in the Northern Spiritual Path and performs compelling Rune Magic. If the Grand Trine is in Water, however, the individual is a healer.

7 The Grand Trine

This man is a Chaos Magician. Note the Grand Trine of Saturn trine Sun/Node trine Pluto trine Saturn. Have a look and see what other Grand Trines you can see in the other chart shape examples on the Level 1 and 2 pages. Grand trines are a difficult challenge but if managed spiritually bring vast reward.

8 The Talent Triangle

This man leads psychedelic shamanism camps. The talent triangle is Sun-Moon-Jupiter trine Uranus, where both of these corners to the triangle are sextile the apex planet which is Mars in Virgo in the 8th House. He developed shamanic visions when he was 20, dropped out of University in Portugal, and came to me for astrological counselling which led to definition of his special talent and definition of the stages in his life where it gained its substance. His parents from their middle class Catholic culture were unable to understand the imperative that was calling him on this path. Note that the Grand Trine is also a talent triangle, as are both parts of the kite (above and below the cross-piece – each have different rules for how they need to be developed and different dangers whereby the crop may be destroyed.

9 The Cradle

This boy is prone to develop an infantile habit of ‘snuggling up’ and critically shutting out the world and becoming untouchable. Actually these people can gain substance to their gift and make good careers as carers if they are supported in facing up to the truth they are avoiding and if they are more clearly valued for being who they are.

10 Learning figures

There are several of these figures. This is the chart of the Irish demolition expert, scrap-dealer and Voudun practitioner we met in Level 1. The triangle with the red, blue and green sides is the learning figure. Basically, you go through endless repeats in your life of a fated lesson – one which you are willing to learn – a lesson defined by the planets, signs and houses involved. It always begins with the challenge epitomized by the red aspect; you then go through a period of quest and understanding as the green aspect kicks in. Lastly, you enjoy the fruits of this when the blue aspect is activated. Then the lesson repeats. The direction of rotation is important to understand the learning process involved – anticlockwise ones are more resistive.

11 Nervousness figures

Again there are several of these figures. This is the chart of a woman who is a Bhairava devotee. Bhairava is a wrathful form of Shiva. She has dedicated her life to Surrender. The Nervousness or irritation figure is Moon opposition Mars (red line), the small green line of Mars semi-sextile Neptune and the longer green line of Neptune inconjunct the Moon. The acutely sensitive figure is all about resistance and denial leading to inner hurt and tenseness manifesting in phobias, addiction and fears etcetera. These can propel the individual to develop philosophies for growth.

12 The Yod

This is the woman who is the wonderful accomplished intuitive herbalist and member of a Wiccan coven, again, whom we met in level 1. The Yod is the long thin green triangle with the blue base, comprising Uranus sextile Venus, where each of these points are inconjunct the Apex planet Saturn. Basically a Yod person has difficulties with the qualities of their apex planet and learns about it through phases of projection onto it of lessons learned through vision or image. It is characterized by periods of mounting extreme stress leading to fated fork-in-the road choices which are followed by more settled and appropriate lifestyle. The point opposite the apex planet is called the reaction point. It is highly sensitive trigger to the Yod figure, which is also known as the ‘Finger of God’. When the Nostradamus Eclipse of 1999 which predicted Terror coming down from the skies happened right on her Yod reaction point, she left unhappy living in a house and moved to a bender way of life where she was far more happy.

13 Psychic triangle

This boy developed clairvoyance and showed the ability to learn things apparently out of the blue, at the age of eight. The triangle that indicates this gift is blue and green and two semi-sextiles and a sextile, so in his chart Pluto is sextile Neptune-Mars-Uranus (blue line), where these two points are both semi-sextile apex Jupiter (green lines). There are a lot of issues about to handle this.

14 Searching figures

This is the chart of the sweat lodge and pipe ceremony leader we met in the Level 1 course. He has two searching figures: triangles with one blue and two green sides. The first is Moon trine Sun-Saturn semi-sextile Mars inconjunct Moon; the second is Uranus trine Mars semi-sextile Sun-Saturn inconjunct Uranus.  Its focus is on mainly 11th House Taurus. He lives on a bender site community. This is the figure of someone who has a talent indicated by the sextile yet is always searching for deeper meaning to be gained from some distant goal, ideal or guru, often experimenting with altered states of consciousness. The gift of the figure is the opportunity to bring into manifestation new vision. The danger is escapist addiction to search.

15 Striving figures

This young man is intelligent and very sensitive but despaired at his felt inability to achieve consistently. He felt as if life kept toppling him over (look at the shape of the figure. It is a combination of a central opposition, a Yod and a small blue/green base triangle: you can see how it can topple. Whatever he learned seemed to lack reality. He was forever talking superficialities. As this material was worked through he developed a quest for the Horned God – Mars is in Sagittarius, so he will put his energies into spirituality, higher learning and or foreign things. He appreciated the consistency and solidity of the phases of the God through the eight great festivals. The quipping and arid superficiality stopped.

16 The Bath Tub

Look at the chart of the boy with the Psychic Triangle (no. 13, above). You will se a bath tub shape: the top of the bath is Moon inconjunct Saturn (green line). Its sides are the two sextiles Moon sextile Node and Saturn sextile Sun-Neptune-Uranus-Mars-Mercury (the two shorter blue lines). The bottom of the bath is Node square Sun-Neptune-Uranus-Mars-Mercury. There is a lot that can be said about this figure. It is certainly the individual who sniffs at life rather than living it.
